Stefan J. Brede
Stefan Jan Brede, head tutor and founder of Talkademy, was born in Frankfurt am Main in the year of the first moon landing. He is a professional journalist and career advertising copywriter and since 2017 also a German language tutor for levels A to C.
Stefan graduated with a First Class Bachelor of Arts with Honours in International Politics and Applied Linguistics from the University of Buckingham in the United Kingdom in 1995.
Stefan worked for more than ten years as a journalist and editor for various German national newspapers, magazines and press agencies before switching careers to work as a copywriter in the advertising industry, later being promoted to Senior Copywriter and finally Creative Director of Text.
During his sixteen-year career with national and international advertising agencies as well as later with his own creative consultancy he created numerous German advertising campaigns, print ads, TV spots and radio ads, some of which won national and international advertising awards.
In 2017 a renowned Frankfurt language school asked him if he would consider teaching German to expats, and since working as a copywriter and creative consultant often involves spending days on end alone in front of a computer screen, he saw this as a welcome change of pace and took up the challenge.
Since then, he has taught diplomats from the US Consulate in Frankfurt and from consulates of other countries, financial experts from the European Central Bank, and numerous managers from international banking institutions, as well as groups of Irish engineers, French lawyers and British IT specialists, to name but a few.
Since 2020, Stefan has increasingly shifted his teaching to online courses, and since 2022 he has been independently teaching exclusively online. He is currently writing a book about the German language in English and, since early 2026, has been taking the next logical step with Talkademy to make his decades of practical experience with German as his ‘tool of the trade’, as well as his academic knowledge and passion for the language available to his students through a modern, fresh and internationally applicable teaching method.
